What is Sanatana Dharma?

What is currently known as Hinduism or Hindu Dharma was originally known as Sanatana Dharma. The terms Hindu and Hinduism are thought to be more modern developments, while Sanatana Dharma is a more appropriate term. It is a code of ethics and a manner of life that can lead to moksha (enlightenment, liberation). It is the world's oldest civilization, as well as the social, spiritual, and religious tradition of about one billion people on the planet. Sanatana Dharma is much more than a religion; it offers its adherents a whole worldview, way of life, and a cohesive and reasonable understanding of reality.

Sanatana Dharma is both anadi (without beginning) and a-paurusheya (without end) (without a human founder). It is characterized by the search for cosmic truth, just as science is defined by the search for physical truth. Its earliest record is the Rigveda, which is a collection of ancient sages' attempts to uncover the truth about the universe and Man's place in it through various techniques. Nature, including all living and non-living objects, was seen as a part of the same cosmic equation, inhabited by a greater awareness, according to them. There is no historical beginning to this inquiry, and no historical originator. This isn't to suggest that the Rigveda was always a work of literature. It means we can't point to anything specific.

What is the distinction between sanatana dharma and religion?

VALUES are central to the Dharma.

PROCESS is central to religion.

As we develop on our spiritual path, Dharma provides assistance in navigating the complexities of daily life, suggesting ways to deal with challenges and adapting solutions. Dharma is mostly a practical philosophy.

Religion is more about ideology than it is about faith; it instructs you what to think and believe. Religion establishes all of the necessary rites, ceremonies, and rules. Religion comes from the Latin word "to bind," which means it binds you to God and the religious community.

As a result, Santana Dharma as a whole encompasses both streams, but emphasises the "values" rather than the "processes."

The ultimate purpose of Santana Dharma is to change the individual from a victim to a victor.
